Your 2023 Fashion Trends Forecast
2023 Fashion Color Trends
Purple Everywhere
Purple power
It’s time to stop and stare — fashion color trends in 2023 have a new hue, and it’s the gorgeous color of purple!

Designers at New York Fashion Week blazed a fashion-forward trail with eye-catching shades of purple appearing on the runway. Celebrities such as Florence Pugh, Sandro Oh, and Lily-Rose Depp have also opted for the everything purple trend. Who knows how long purple will remain fashionable, but one thing’s for sure: if you want to stay ahead of the 2023 fashion curve, now is no better time to get on board with this new It-Girl color.
Denim Galore
Denim galore
This fashion trend forecast predicts that upon denim making its timeless mark, it is undoubtedly here to stay.

After taking over the Spring/Summer 2022 collections, designers continue to showcase the fabric in innovative and eye-catching ways. Masha Popova showed bleached denim mini dresses, while Burberry layered different cutouts of denim atop each other. Givenchy embossed its logo onto the fabric, and Bluemarine added a hint of sparkle with stud embellishments. Denim is set to rank as a go-to style for 2023.
Leathering It Up
Leather baby
This fashion trend forecast predicts that upon denim making its timeless mark, it is undoubtedly here to stay.

Backed by celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Julia Fox, Rihanna, and Hailey Bieber, leather deservingly made waves on the runways during NYC fashion week. Leather skirts in both mini and maxi lengths were spotted under high-fashion labels such as Altuzarra and TK, as well as heavy (and colorful) leather jackets aplenty at Coach. This versatility means you can rock the leather look all year round, making leather, not just an any-season wardrobe essential but a perfect 2023 slated trend worth investing in.
2023 Trend Forecast
Fancy Fringe Details
Fringe fashion =bring fun and glamour to any outfit. For fashion trends in 2023, the fringe will remain a staple – and everyone is happy about it! Fashion powerhouses Proenza Schouler, Jil Sander, Alexander McQueen, and Bottega Veneta brought fringe back to the runway in 2022. Fringe detailing is versatile, which is likely why this trend is here to stay for another fashion cycle.
Hooded Dresses
One of the most talked about looks has been none other than the hooded dress. Grace Jones, a legendary fashion icon and muse, has been wearing her signature hood for decades, and now the fashion industry has noticed. Many fashion brands, including Saint Laurent and Alaïa, are incorporating it into their Spring 2023 collections. Sometimes referred to as “The Grace Jones Effect,” hooded dresses are sure to be a favorite for fashion-forward A-listers on the red carpet this upcoming year.
Bubble Hems
It’s been a while since fashion fans have seen bubble skirts return to the catwalk, and with fashion trends in 2023 set to keep us on our toes this season, these voluminous hems are back in full force. From Bibhu Mohapatra’s red carpet-ready styles to the more laidback pieces from Ulla Johnson and Proenza Schouler, fashionistas everywhere can give the nod to this look while bumping up their fashion status! Sure, it may be more difficult to wear than other styles, but bubble skirts can create maximum drama when worn correctly. So go ahead and balance your proportions before you make that fashion statement – after all, you want this style to work for you, not the other way around!
Bigger & Baggier Jeans
If you were hoping to bring out those vintage mom and grunge jeans from the back of your closet, then now’s your chance. Fashion trends have evolved since the lockdown began in 2020, and we are now celebrating the latest big trend—baggy jeans! Not only are skinny jeans officially out, but fashion-forward stars like Emily Ratajkowski have been spotted rocking this stylish look. Big fashion brands like Vogue are incorporating this style into their collections for 2023. After years of the skinny jeans era, it’s refreshing to finally switch it up with some looser fashion pieces and be fabulous doing it. I love my skinny jeans, and it will be challenging to say goodbye to them for now. But as with most trends, they will be back in a few years.
The City School Aesthetic
Fashion trends 2023 is taking the popular city school aesthetic to the next level. Girly elements such as plaid skirts, ruffled collars, and pink bows have been fused with street-style grunge, ranging from heavy piercings to lug sole shoes and mesh layering. Bold fashion entrepreneurs such as Liang pair these looks with on-trend items like ballet flats or sleek, sporty sneakers. This look has been spotted at fashion shows like Coach and Maya Seyferth, proving that the city school aesthetic will likely make a name for itself as we navigate the 2023 trending landscape.
Sheer Layering
The year 2023 is the season of see-through! Designers were quick to jump on this trend, with an estimated 77% of collections featuring a version of see-through looks. Designers are embracing the mismatched side of style by pairing their ethereal looks with vibrant branded lingerie. Molly Goodard demonstrated their vision through striking tulle dresses over stripped sets. Miu Miu pushed it further by styling sheer separates with its iconic logo underwear. With the season’s fashion trends forecast reading ‘see now, wear now,’ it looks like 2023 is officially becoming the year of embracing all things risqué
I love some of these trends. But I want to remind you not to feel pressured into buying only the top trends, especially if you are on a budget. Make sure to buy only what you love, to keep building the closet of your dreams.
