It is so fun to watch the evolution of style. Every generation brings with it an interpretation of what is stylish and what is symbolic for the people in it. As a result, we wind up engaging in new trends and are able to have so much fun doing it! I know there is an unspoken fashion battle between Millenials and Gen Z (hehe) but at the end of the day it is all in jest.
This post is all about gen z fashion trends.
The 7 Best Gen Z Fashion Trends
Generation Z Fashion Trends
1. Gen Z Green
Though the Millennial Pink days certainly left their mark, Gen Z has officially replaced the pink we all grew to love with Gen Z Green. Gen Z Green directly reflects a shift in economic power, class, and the strive for sustainability. In addition, this Gen Z style is a representation of the generation’s efforts toward bringing new values to the workforce. And with about 40% of the world’s shoppers being Gen Zer’s, the market is only getting greener by the day.

2. Pearlcore
Pearls have always been a staple fashion trend since the dawn of time. According to Pinterest’s annual report, Pearlcore has become the go-to accessory for Gen Z. This generation has taken ‘wearing pearls’ to a new level. Pearls add edge, texture, and an iridescent glow. Last year’s most talked-about outfit at the Met Gala was Barbie Ferreira’s pearl-encrusted dress. These assets have caught the eyes of Gen Zer’s enough to make them a part of the ever-evolving Gen Z fashion trends inventory.
3. The Middle Part
This may not be a”wearable” trend per se, but it is one that has significantly defined the gen z population. According to Gen Z influencers, the side part that Millennials have grown to love is now out, and the middle part is in. Funny enough, this is almost a concrete symbol of who is a Gen Z and who is not based on first glance.
The middle part came from the idea that a side-part ages you and adds balance to the face. It also comes from the ideology that going against social norms is better than following them. With hair fashion trends being just as prominent as fashion itself, the middle part reset was far too defining to leave out of this list.

4. Low-Rise Jeans
Gen Zer’s have a strong track record for intertwining 90s nostalgia into their style. From the chockers, and butterfly clips to the flare jeans. It is almost like the 90s has come full circle. The most notable trend is the low-rise jean, and it certainly sent millennials into a whirlwind of emotions.
Millennials went through the invigorating stage of low-rise jeans, and many remember the negative self-image repercussions of it. But despite the warnings from the first wave of wearers, Gen Z is hot on the low-rise jean trail for its seductive appearance and ability to make crop tops much more appealing, thus making low-risers yet another staple Gen Z style trend that is more than worth documenting.
5. Small Circle Frames
Since 2017, tiny sunglasses have been a high-ticket trending piece that Gen Zer’s have adopted as part of their generational identity. Though small rectangular or cat-eye sunglasses have been exceptionally popular up to now, the Gen Z style tends to favor the small round-framed ones that resemble the 60s and 70s era. This is partly influenced by the idea of self-expression and, of course, by celebrity influences like Gigi Hadid, Rhianna, and Selena Gomez rocking small circular frames in recent years. This is not to say that larger framed glasses are “out,” but they have certainly taken a back seat to their smaller, rounded counterparts.
6. Color Clashing
If there is one thing that’s for sure, Gen Z as a collective is a generation that values authenticity. It is the generation that wants each other to dress how they please, be self-expressive, and not be afraid to hide who they are on the inside by wearing what they want on the outside. And with that has birthed a new fashion style of intense color clashing and shape blending.
Now, wearing colors that harmonically work together is not a new trend. What is new is the idea that you can wear any color together and make it work. Regardless of what the standard color wheels have to say about it. Color clashing (especially if it goes against standard practices) is highly valued in this era because if it makes you happy, then that is all that matters.
7. Grandpacore
Last but not least, grandpacore. And yes, you did read that right. Believe it or not, grandpa-inspired fashion is a hot Gen Z style right now, with oversized cardigans sales being up 173% and grandpa sweaters hitting a generational high of 157%. Along with this, the TikTok hashtag “grandpacore” has an astounding 2.5+M views. You may be wondering (especially if you are not part of the Gen Z generation) is…why is this even a thing?
Part of it is the reality that Gen Z’s sees this style as fresh and effortless without following mainstream fads. It also adds a layer of rebellion to the beauty industries that usually overlook the older generations, making a statement by wearing these pieces beyond standard loungewear. These are timeless fashion staples that have sparked high interest of the younger audience, a strange yet inspiring movement that makes it excited to see where the future of grandpacore will go.
