We’ve created the resort capsule wardrobe of your dreams! Are you ready to soak up the sun, feel the ocean breeze in your hair and the sand between your toes?
A resort vacation might be just what you need this summer. A beach resort can give you the perfect escape from everyday life, and we love it because you’re transported to a place where all your needs are met. Say goodbye to stress and hello to sunshine and fun!
Except of course the stress of what to pack… Packing (and in our case, overpacking!) can be the hardest part about going on vacation. Get ready to say goodbye to packing stress, because we’ve created the ultimate beach resort vacation capsule for you.
Introducing effortless style with our capsule wardrobe designed specifically for your beach resort vacation this year. Capsule wardrobes are designed to help you pack smarter, not harder – and look stylish for your entire vacation.
Now… normally we recommend packing neutrals in your capsule wardrobe because that’s the best way to mix and match pieces… BUT, the thing we love about resortwear is how fun and bright it is. So we’re mixing things up for this capsule.
Let’s take our typical capsule wardrobe method and shake it up for your beach resort vacation.
The 5–4–3–2–1 Method
So normally we use this method for creating a capsule wardrobe. This is the simplest way to make sure that you don’t overpack, and it helps you think about each item and piece that you’re bringing and how those pieces work together. In other words. Your typical capsule wardrobe should include:
- 5 tops
- 4 bottoms
- 3 outer layers
- 2 shoes
- 1 dress
5+4+3+2+1=15 pieces. Ta-da!
But you don’t really need 3 outer layers at a beach resort… and only 1 dress?! No thank you.
Creating your beach resort capsule wardrobe
Instead, your beach resort capsule is going to look more like this:
- 5 dresses or swim cover ups
- 4 tops and bottoms
- 3 swimsuits
- 2 shoes
- 1 beach bag
And some of those dresses are going to be bold, bright and beautiful to match the colors of the beach and your gorgeous summer tan.
Keep in mind that less is more. So instead of adding dresses to our old capsule wardrobe method, we actually took out things that you aren’t going to need – to make room for the dresses and coverups that you’re going to want to have at the beach.
This capsule is going to be perfect for your 3-4 day resort vacation, so of course if you’re going for longer than that, consider packing a few of the items that we’ve shared in this summer capsule wardrobe! Or if you’re going somewhere with more temperate temperatures, consider adding a lightweight sweater (which can also be worn on the plane!)
The biggest thing to remember is that this is YOUR capsule wardrobe, so mix and match to fit your needs, but if we were going to a beach resort this summer, this is definitely what we would be packing!
Tips for creating a resort vacation capsule
Think about your activities
Step one is to think about the activities that you’ll be doing. If you’re planning on staying at the resort, lounging on the beach and reading by the pool, then this capsule is perfect for you! But, if you want to get out of the resort and do some more adventurous activities, you’ll need to plan your outfits accordingly.
Also, what restaurants are you going to be visiting? This might help you decide how many ‘fancier’ dresses to pack v.s. swim coverups and outfits that incorporate your swimwear.
Plan your outfits in advance
The key to a good capsule wardrobe is planning. Plan your activities, plan your restaurants (or at least have a vague idea) and plan your outfits! We highly recommend trying everything on to make sure that it looks great and goes well together.
Try on each outfit and mix and match to make sure that you are happy with the capsule.
Choose versatile outfits
As with any capsule wardrobe, you want pieces that are versatile and high quality. One of the reasons we love creating capsule wardrobes is because it helps you see your closet as a whole. It can help you pick out high quality pieces that you know are going to look great with the other items you already own.
This means you can focus on quality of clothing instead of quantity. Trust us, you can afford the nicest things, you just need to invest in them and make sure that they fit your closet, style and capsules!

Dresses & Coverups
For us, going to a resort means getting to spend all day at the pool and beach – which means we’ll be spending most of our days in bathing suits! When it comes to creating the perfect resort vacation capsule, that means finding pieces that you can easily throw over a swimsuit. That’s why we’ve included plenty of dresses and coverups in this capsule.

Tops fall into the same category as dresses – can they be easily worn over a bathing suit? These tops are perfect for lounging at the resort. We’ve also included a very fun matching set – resort wear is all about colors and patterns so you’ll see a lot more of that in this capsule.

Bottoms
Bottoms for a resort vacation capsule are just as simple as the tops. Let’s face it, this capsule is all about the dresses and swimwear, so packing light on bottoms and tops is essential.

Swimwear
It can be tempting to pack a lot of swimwear when you’re going on a resort vacation! Swimwear doesn’t take up as much space as other items… but keep in mind that you’re going to want to pack light to avoid decision fatigue. We’re sorry to be the ones to tell you this… but there is a such thing as too many swimsuits! Pick a few that you love and that you know will go with everything.

Shoes & Accessories
We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again, shoes and accessories really make your capsule wardrobe! But they can also take up the most space when you’re packing. Since we’re going to be relaxing by the pool and going out for sunset cocktails, we’ve decided to keep it simple with shoes. But if you’re going to head out on more adventures while you’re there, you might want to pack some simple sneakers as well.
