Must-Have Winter Wardrobe Essentials
It gets quite cold here in New York City in the winter months. That is why I make sure to have these essential items on hand all season long. Leave me a comment and let me know if you have these foundational pieces in your wardrobe!
1. Wool Coat
A classic staple in any wardrobe. A warm wool coat will keep you warm and chic on occasions where a down coat isn’t an option.
2. Down Coat
This is ESSENTIAL for me. This is where I would make the biggest investment if I were building my wardrobe from scratch. One good-quality down coat will last you for years and will not require you to wear 5-6 layers underneath it to keep warm.
3. Hat + Scarf
Did you know that 40-45% of your body heat is lost through your head and neck? Wearing a good quality hat and scarf to keep those parts of you warm will help tremendously in preventing you from getting bone-chilled.
4. Warm Sweater
I have this sweater in almost every color. I know, it’s intense. But it is so easy to grab a pair of denim (or leggings) and pair that with one of these sweaters. I always feel put together with minimal effort.
5. Waterproof Boots
I have these booties in black and in ivory. I will say that they are on the heavier side in terms of weight but incredibly sturdy and comfortable.
6. Sweater Dress
Another easy way to look polished with minimal effort. Throwing on a sweater dress over some leggings or tights with some over-the-knee boots.
7. Fuzzy Socks
Although I wear these year-round (girls you probably understand the cold feet syndrome), they are particularly useful in the winter.
Bonus – Winter Nail Colors
While this may not be a piece of clothing to wear, having staple winter nail colors will save you time in deciding what color to paint your nails. Also, having staple colors that work in tandem with the colors in your wardrobe will allow you to look chic all season long.
